
Kathy Roth-Douquet
A military family advocate, author, and attorney. She is co-founder and CEO of Blue Star Families, the nation's largest chapter-based military family organization with programs serving over 1.5 million members of the military community and millions of civilians. Kathy is an author an commentator on patriotism, civil-military affairs, and national service. She has appeared on the Today Show, Fox and Friends, CNN, NPR, and has been a frequent contributed to USA Today, and is a frequent public speaker. She is a senior advisor to the Summit Institute, a nonprofit organization associated with Summit Series and Summit Powder Mountain.
Her first book, AWOL, co-authored with Frank Schaeffer, continues to be used as a primer on civil-military affairs in the "one-percent" world. As an attorney she worked in the intersection of government, for-profit,and nonprofit projects encompassing a practical vision for public good. In this capacity she managed a fund investing in educational projects in low income neighborhoods.
Kathy has received the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service, the Chief of Staff of the Army Medal for Outstanding Civilian Contribution and is recognized as a Daily Point of Light by George H.W. Bush's the Points of Light Foundation.
